The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has received complaints regarding private hospitals charging a higher price for coronavirus treatment than the rates announced earlier by the government. With an increasing number of complaints, the municipality has now set up a call centre to address the grievances and enable the citizens to easily lodge the complaints, basis which appropriate action will be taken within the stipulated time.

Keeping this in mind, NMMC has set up COVID-19 Bill Grievance Redressal Center to assist the people with issues regarding the bills and payments charged by the private hospitals for undergoing treatment in the Navi Mumbai area.

This 'Bill Grievance Redressal Center' was set up on the ground floor of NMMC Headquarters building on September 7, and will be functional from 8 am to 8 pm. If one wished to lodge a complaint or enquire about the protocol, they can call on 022-27567389 or on the WhatsApp number 7208490010, which has been made available immediately.

As per the protocol, the staff members at the centre will collect details like name of the patient, name of the complainant, mobile number, full address of the patient, name and address of the hospital, date of hospitalization, date of discharge from the hospital, amount of bill charged by the hospital and brief information of complaint. The complainant will then be notified to send a copy of the bill to the e-mail id cbcc@nmmconline.com or the WhatsApp number 7208490010. Upon receiving the copies, the complainant will be given a specific token number.

Complaints received regarding bills will be acted upon by the corporation within 24 hours and the complainant will be informed about the action taken by the department. In addition, they can refer to the token number to get information about the action taken on his complaint from this centre.

As of Sunday, September 6, 2020, Navi Mumbai had a total of 31,096 cases and 681 deaths. The number of cases in Maharashtra has seen a rise, and the state, over the weekend, witnessed the highest single-day jump taking the tally to over 9-lakh cases.
