According to the data released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), on Wednesday, October 6, the Greater Mumbai area reported 629 total positive patients. The number of positive patients who recovered and were discharged stood at 540. On the other hand, the progressive total active patients are at 4519.

On Wednesday, seven fatalities were also logged and the total tests done were 39569. From the seven fatalities registered, six patients had comorbidities of whom five were male and two were female. Whilst two deaths were between the age of 40-60, the remaining five were over the age of 60.

The recovery rate of the city stands at 97% and the overall growth rate of COVID-19 cases in the island city from September 29 and October 5 was 0.06%. With this, the doubling rate of the city is 1131 days.

Additionally, based on the containment measures taken on October 5, there are zero active containment zones in the city. Apart from this, there are 48 active sealed buildings.

On October 7, religious places in Maharashtra are set to open their doors to the public amidst several regulations. In addition to this, the WHO stated that there are likely to make a final decision regarding the approval of Covaxin next week
