Maharashtra: Temples set to reopen from tomorrow - Here are the rules you need to follow

After the Uddhav Thackeray government announced to reopen all places of worship would reopen from October 7, the first day of Navratri, various temples in Mumbai and across Maharashtra started making arrangements.

At various famous places such as – Siddhivinayak temple, Shirdi Sai Baba temple and Mumba Devi -- devotees turn up in large numbers. Therefore, the temple's trust has issued guidelines to maintain social distancing and avoid overcrowding.

Siddhivinayak Temple

All devotees will be allowed only through pre-booking QR codes on Temple Trust's app, Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Temple Trust. Only 250 devotees will be issued QR codes every hour for darshan.

The devotees will have to follow COVID-appropriate behaviour such as social distancing, wearing masks etc. The devotees will be allowed inside the temple only after checking temperature using the thermal scanner, said Adesh Bandekar, President of Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Temple Trust to ANI.

He also said that the registration of devotees on the app will begin on October 6 at 12 pm. Thereafter, every Thursday, the app will accept the registration for the ensuing week, he added.

Shirdi Sai Baba and Shani Shingnapur Temple

According to the fresh guidelines issued by Ahmednagar district collector Rajendra B Bhosale, a maximum of 15,000 devotees are to be allowed in the Shirdi Sai Baba temple daily, while the number of pilgrims at the Shani Shingnapur temple will be capped at 20,000 a day.

The Shirdi Sai Baba temple is issuing 5,000 paid passes, 5,000 online passes, and 5,000 offline passes for the devotees. No more than 1,150 devotees will be allowed to be inside the temple premises at any hour.

Meanwhile, the temple aarti can be attended by a maximum of 90 devotees, according to the fresh guidelines.

Devotees going to both the Shirdi Sai Baba and the Shani Shingnapur temples must mandatorily wear masks and maintain social distancing wherever applicable. For this purpose, the administration has fixed entry from entrance number 2, while exit will be facilitated through exit gates numbers 4 and 5 at the Shirdi Sai Baba temple.

The Dhyan Mandir and Parayan Kaksh will remain closed, the administration informed, adding that pregnant women, children below 10 years of age, and people above 65 years will not be allowed to enter the temple.

Mumba Devi Temple

According to the guidelines issued by Temple Trust, devotees will have to register at the temple's website before entering the premises or on Temple Trust's mobile application. Devotees can register on the official website of the temple at https://mumbadevi.org.in. This step has been taken to avoid a large gathering of devotees' temple Management on the request of the local police station has decided to give darshan only to those who will book the slot.

Whoever books the darshan slot will get one SMS for his/her confirmation for the booking, along with the SMS every visiting devotee must carry a COVID-19 vaccination certificate with them, Mumba Devi Temple trust said in a statement.

The temple will open for fully vaccinated devotees. Besides, the unvaccinated devotees will have to show a COVID-19 negative certificate. The temple administration has informed that flowers, garlands and prasad will not be allowed inside the temple.

The darshan timing will be between 7 am to 6 pm.

Children below the age of 10, citizens above 65 years and pregnant women are requested to remain at home, the Temple Trust said.
