Mumbai’s civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to continue with the COVID-19 treatment centres in Mumbai till March 31.

Meanwhile, the suburban rail services in Mumbai were shut down at the end of March last year after the pandemic hit the country. However, after the relaxation of the lockdown norms, local services were started for the employees in the essential services and then for women. However, in general, men in the private sector were still not allowed to travel by local.

On the spectrum of good news for Mumbaikars, from Monday, the general public will also be able to travel by local at stipulated times. Therefore, the number of passengers and crowds will start increasing from Monday. Due to various measures taken by BMC in the last 10 months, the coronavirus crisis has been brought under control in Mumbai but the possibility of an increase in the number of COVID-19 patients cannot be ruled out once the local for general commuters start. Moreover, the six treatment centres at Dahisar, Goregaon Nesco, BKC, Worli NSCI, Mulund, Byculla at Richard Sons & Co. will continue till March 31.

On the other hand, earlier on January 28, the Union Health Ministry informed that the country has managed to flatten the COVID-19 graph after the first wave of infections, however, it stated concern for two states, namely Kerala and Maharashtra for having the maximum number of COVID-19 cases. India is vaccinating about four lakh people every day currently, but by July the government plans to vaccinate 30 crore people and each person needs two doses which means vaccinating nearly 30 lakh people daily starting now.
