The vaccination drive against novel coronavirus infection is being carried out around across the world. However, it has come to light that after receiving the vaccine, many people reported side effects.
In this vaccination campaign, 2.24 lakh people have been vaccinated in the last two days. Of these, 447 have been found to have adverse effects of the vaccine. Out of these 447, three were adversely affected by the vaccine and had to be admitted to the hospital, the Union Health Department said on Sunday, January 17. It is noteworthy that the employees of eight health departments in the city of Maharashtra have also been affected by the vaccine.
On Day 1, Saturday, January 16, 1.91 lakh were vaccinated at 3,006 sites across India after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the nationwide drive. The Health Ministry said the drop in the number of states was meant to avoid clashes with immunisation schedules for other illnesses.
Meanwhile, over 17,000 people were vaccinated across 553 sites in six states on Day 2 of India's coronavirus vaccination drive, the Health Ministry said Sunday evening, January 17. Vaccination campaigns were conducted in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Manipur and Tamil Nadu on Sunday.
However, the health department said 444 others had minor symptoms such as fever, headache and nausea. A meeting of all the states and union territories was held on Sunday, January 17. It reviewed the progress of the vaccination campaign as well as discussed obstacles to the campaign and the removal of planning errors.
A 35-year-old nurse in Kolkata has fallen ill after being vaccinated but is in stable condition now. The matter will be investigated by a board of medical experts. The nurse reported dizziness after being vaccinated. A health official said a committee of experts had been set up and the nurse's condition was stable.
