Coronavirus Outbreak: Maharashtra records 4,878 fresh cases, tally at 1,74,761

On Tuesday 30th June, Maharashtra recorded 4,878 new cases taking the total number of COVID-19 cases to 1,74,761. The death toll reached 7,855 with 245 new deaths. Out of 245 deaths that were reported on Tuesday, 95 had occurred in the last 48 hours while the balance 150 were backlogged from the previous period.

According to a tweet by the health minister of Maharashtra Rajesh Tope on Tuesday. The number of active cases are 75,979. The total number of patients that recovered today were 1,951 taking the total number of recovered patients to 90,911. The CM of Maharashtra had decided to extend the lockdown till 31st July and strict rules to be followed in various containment zones.

On the other hand, the number of coronavirus positive cases recorded in Mumbai were less than 1000. On Tuesday, there were 893 cases reported for Mumbai. With this the total number of cases in the city to 77,658, while the death toll stands at 4,556. 93 of these deaths were reported in the past 24 hours.

According to the Municipal Corporation Greater Mumbai, out of all deaths that were reported in the last 24 hours, 36 deaths were in the last 48 hours and 57 deaths were from the previous period which was added in progressive. The recovery rate of Mumbai district is at 57 per cent.  

Apart from this, the active containment zones in Mumbai including slums and chawls is 750 and the number of buildings sealed stand at 5,875. The CM of Maharashtra has also launched 'Project Platina'- World's largest convalescent plasma therapy to treat COVID patients. Plasma therapy has been successful in helping a log of COVID positive patients recover.

As per the Union Health Ministry, India has reported 5,66,840 COVID-19 cases out of which 2,15,125 are active cases, 3,34,822 recovered and 16,893 deaths as of Tuesday.
