Maharashtra reported 4,930 new COVID-19 cases, 6,290 recoveries and 95 deaths on Tuesday (December 1), taking the total number of cases in the state to 18,28,826. There are 89,098 active cases in the state and 16,91,412 patients have recovered so far. The death toll is at 47,246 in Maharashtra.

In total 1,09,15,683 people have been tested in Maharashtra. The states recovery rate is 92.49 per cent. In the state, 5,38,084 persons are in-home quarantine while 6,420 persons are in institutional quarantine.

Mumbai reported 724 new COVID-19 cases, 1,280 recoveries and nine deaths on Tuesday (December 1), taking the total number of cases in the financial capital to 2,84,184. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) update data, there are 12,440 active cases and 2,57,915 patients have completely recovered so far. The death toll is at 10,819 in the city. The recovery rate stands at 91 per cent. At present 19,07,961 tests have been conducted by the BMC. There are 434 contaminated zones in slums and chawls while 5,212 buildings are sealed by the BMC.

Meanwhile, India reported 36,604 new COVID-19 cases, 43,062 recoveries and 501 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the tally up to 94,99,414, according to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday (December 1). While in total 89,32,647 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,38,122 in the country. At present, there are 4,28,644 active cases. According to the ICMR, 14,24,45,949 samples have been tested up to December 1.
