Maharashtra records 5,600 new COVID-19 cases, 111 deaths

Maharashtra reported 5,600  new COVID-19 cases, 5,027 recoveries and 111 deaths on Wednesday (December 2), taking the total number of cases in the state to 18,32,176. There are 88,537 active cases in the state and 16,95,208 patients have recovered so far. The death toll is at 47,357 in Maharashtra.

In total 10,989,496 people have been tested in Maharashtra. The states recovery rate is 92.52 per cent In the state, 5,47,791 persons are in-home quarantine while 6,073 persons are in institutional quarantine.

Mumbai reported 877 new COVID-19 cases, 205 recoveries and 20 deaths on Tuesday (December 1), taking the total number of cases in the financial capital to 2,82,811. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, there are 13,060 active cases and 2,57,348 patients have completely recovered so far. The death toll is at 10,839 in the city. The recovery rate stands at 91 per cent. At present 19,24,111 tests have been conducted by the BMC. There are 444 contaminated zones in slums and chawls while 5,270 buildings are sealed by the BMC.

Meanwhile, India reported 35,551 new COVID-19 cases, 40,726 recoveries and 526 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the tally up to 95,34,965 according to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday (December 2). While in total 89,73,373 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,38,648 in the country. At present, there are 4,22,943 active cases. According to the ICMR, 14,35,57,647 samples have been tested up to December 2. According to the news agency, India has reported more daily recoveries than daily new cases during the past 24 hours. The active cases are fallen under the 4.5 per cent mark on December 2.
