Maharashtra witnessed 7,924 new infected patients on Monday, taking the state's COVID-19 tally to 3,83,723. With 227 new deaths, the fatality toll has increased to 13,883 in the state. According to the health department, there are 1,47,592 active patients in the state, while 2,21,944 people have recovered in total.

According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Mumbai recorded 1,012 new cases, taking the city's caseload to 1,10,182. The city reported 39 deaths in the past 24 hours, taking its death toll to 6,132. The civic body also stated that there are 21,812 active coronavirus patients in the city. With 1,706 patients being discharged on Monday, the number of recovered patients have gone up to 81,944 in the city. 

Dharavi only reported nine new coronavirus cases on Monday, taking the area’s total tally to 2,540. As per the civic body, there are only 98 active cases in the region. Over 2,100 people have recovered in Dharavi and 500 of them have also agreed to donate their blood plasma.

Thane district, which is part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), recorded 1,474 new COVID-19 cases on Monday. The cases in the neighbouring district of Mumbai has gone up to 80,041. With 36 more patients succumbing to the infection, the toll mounted to 2,189 in the region. 

Pune district reported 3,044 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking its tally to 72,782. The death toll rose to 1,737 with 38 more patients succumbing to the infection in the district. According to the health department, 896 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours. As per media reports, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has asked the officials to set up three 'jumbo' coronavirus treatment facilities in Pune. While reviewing that situation in the district, he also acknowledged there were complaints of overcharging against some private hospitals. He has assured citizens that these bills will be examined soon by independent accountants.

Meanwhile, India has crossed the 14 lakh mark in recording COVID-19 cases. According to the Union Health Department, the total number of cases have reached 14,35,453 in the country including 4,85,114 active cases and 9,17,568 recovered patients. With 708 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, the fatality toll has reached 32,771 in the country.
