Coronavirus cases in Thane district cross 50,000-mark with more than 290 per cent increase in a month

As of June 7, 2020, Thane district had 50,829 cases, out of which 19,459 cases have recovered and 1,381 deaths have been reported from the locality. Currently, a total of 29,988 cases are active in the Thane District.

The number of coronavirus cases in Thane district and other areas near Mumbai has been increasing over the last few months. Observing this, the state government and the local municipal corporations decided to impose strict lockdown, thereby ensuring safety. 

Data released by the state health Ministry on June 7, 2020, stated that the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Thane district has crossed the 50,000-mark with two municipal corporations reporting more than 10,000 cases. As of Tuesday, the district had a total of 50,829 cases. 

Out of the 50,829 cases, a total of 11,243 cases are identified in Kalyan Dombivli, 12,568 from areas under Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), 9,426 from Navi Mumbai, 6,763 from Thane, 4,995 from Mira-Bhayandar, 3,214 from Ulhasnagar, and 2,620 from Bhiwandi

Further, 19,459 cases have recovered and 1,381 deaths have been reported from the locality. Currently, approximately 59 per cent, i.e., a total of 29,988 cases are active in the Thane District.

Over the last month, i.e., between June 7, 2020, and July 8, 2020, the district has seen an increase in the number of cases by 290 per cent. Data released by the  State Health Department on June 7, 2020, showed that Thane had a total of 13,004 cases. Besides this, the district, within the last one week, i.e, between July 1 and July 7, 2020, has an increase by 30 per cent, i.e. 11,000 coronavirus cases, where on July 1, Thane district had 39,316 cases.

Data released as with ornaments will cooperation states that the localities under the TMC currently have a doubling rate of around 20 days.
