More than 60,000 passengers have undergone COVID19 test at Thane station

Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has so far conducted more than 60,000 early antigen tests of passengers travelling at Thane station. As per reports released, early antigen tests have been carried out in the railway station area for passengers coming from abroad, and this has been carried out since August. So far, out of all the tests, 941 passengers were found to be infected with the coronavirus.

Complete lockdown in the city of Thane ended in June and the relaxation was offered on selected activities from July. Post this, many people started revisiting Mumbai and Thane. Keeping this in mind, officials from the TMC started conducting early antigen testing at railway station area for passengers coming from other parts of the country.

To ensure the seamless process, a team of 35 people were deployed for these tests, and officials were given a target to test 800 to 900 passengers on a daily basis. Accordingly, in the last three months, a total of 60,353 passengers citizens have been tested.

Besides this, more than 19.92 lakh citizens have been surveyed, in rural areas of Thane district, by 638 teams under the 'My Family, My Responsibility' campaign. Among them, around 5,690 suspects with COVID19, SARI and influenza-like symptoms have been identified and have been sent for further treatment.

Data released by the state health department states that a total of 15,31,277 COVID-19 patients have been discharged after full recovery until November 3, 2020, taking the recovery rate in the state to 90.46 per cent. The current case fatality rate in the state stands at 2.61 per cent.

Besides this, out of 91,20,515 laboratory samples, more than 16.92 lakh have been tested positive, i.e. 18.56 per cent. Currently 17,95,666 people in Maharashtra are under home quarantine and 11,969 people are under institutional quarantine.
