COVID-19 vaccine expected by early 2021: Harsh Vardhan

As per reports, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, in a meeting of the Group of Ministers on Tuesday, stated that India is likely to have a vaccine against the coronavirus by early next year.

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, in a meeting of the Group of Ministers on Tuesday, October 13, stated that India is likely to have a vaccine against the coronavirus by early next year, as per reports.

Moreover, the World Health Organization (WHO) Chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan had earlier reiterated the same stating that the vaccine should be ready for registration by the end of 2020 or next year at the earliest.

In the past, Harsh Vardhan, addressing a special session of the WHO executive board had stated that therapeutic diagnostic and vaccines for the whole world are the only way out of the pandemic that has rattled people across continents. In addition, he appreciated the member states for their contribution in battling the pandemic together all the while displaying solidarity. He also encouraged people to rise to the occasion to help the ones who are powerless as well.

Meanwhile, on Monday, Maharashtra reported 7,089 fresh cases of the coronavirus taking the COVID-19 tally in the state to 15,35,315. On the other hand, at 1,620, Mumbai city reported the highest number of cases in the state in the day, taking the cumulative count to 2,31,066. While 317 fresh cases were reported from Navi Mumbai, Nagpur added 306 cases of coronavirus and Thane 302.
