The number of HIV patients in Mumbai has been steadily decreasing for a few years and the death rate of HIV patients has also decreased by almost fifty percent in the last four years.
In 2019-20, 4,473 HIV patients were detected in Mumbai, of which 1,265 people died due to HIV. In the year 2020-21, the Corona virus spread throughout the world. During this period, there is a reduction in the number of HIV patients due to restrictions on conducting tests, conducting camps, and contacting patients. In 2020-21, as many as 2,063 patients were found in Mumbai. Similarly, there has been some reduction in the death of HIV patients, 1158 people died.

After the corona virus outbreak subsided and the situation became stable, re-testing and contact with patients started without any hindrance. Then in 2021-22, as many as 3,087 patients were found in Mumbai. Compared to 2019-20, this number is less by almost 1400, so it was seen that the campaigns implemented by the society are getting success. Also, there was a slight decrease in the number of deaths compared to 2019-20. The decline in HIV cases and deaths has continued in 2022-23. In 2022-23, Mumbai reported 1,910 HIV cases and 654 deaths.
