After a spike in the number of cases in Bandra, Chembur and Mulund, there has been an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the G-North ward which includes Dharavi, Mahim and Dadar.
On Wednesday, February 24 Dadar reported five new COVID-19 cases taking the tally up to 5,064. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in total 4,785 people have been completely recovered and discharged. At present, there are 113 active COVID-19 cases in Dadar.
On the other hand, Mahim reported 10 new COVID-19 cases taking the tally up to 4,946. While 4,658 people have completely recovered. At present, there are 134 active COVID-19 cases in Mahim.
Mumbai’s largest slum colony Dharavi reported 10 new cases of COVID-19 taking the tally up to 4,041. While in total 3,692 people have been recovered from the disease. At present, Dharavi has 33 active COVID-19 cases. Dharavi which was once a COVID-19 hotspot, reported 16 positive cases on Tuesday, February 16. Furthermore, between February 16 and February 24, the ward reported 221 cases.
Last month, Dharavi, Mahim and Dadar had reported ‘zero’ COVID-19 cases. Thereafter till February 2, Dharavi reported single-digit numbers which is much lesser than 10 days spike.
As per BMC data, in total 25 new COVID-19 cases were reported from the G-North ward propelled the ward's tally to 14,051. As many as 13,135 people have been completely recovered and discharged from the hospital. At present, there are 280 active cases in the G-North ward. While the average growth rate in the ward is 0.16 per cent and the doubling period stands at 422 days.
