With cases of coronavirus on a rise in Mumbai, Dharavi has reported 16 positive COVID-19 cases. On Tuesday, February 16, five more patients tested positive.

So far, the total number of positive COVID-19 cases in this area has reached 3,985. On Tuesday, the number of patients recovering in the area reached 3,653. In view of the situation, it was earlier decided to conduct large-scale tests across the city of Mumbai, including Dharavi where test camps were organized from February 13-15.

According to the latest figures from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), there are 103 active cases in Mahim whereas 4,611 patients have been cured. Currently, the total number of positive cases in the area has reached 4,868. In Dadar, there are 96 active COVID-19 cases whereas 4,747 people have been cured.

On the other hand, on Tuesday, February 16, Maharashtra recorded 3,663 people testing positive for the novel coronavirus taking the state's COVID-19 tally to 20,71,306. At present, there are 37,125 active cases in the state. With 2,700 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 19,81,408. Meanwhile, Mumbai continues to be a major novel coronavirus hotspot with 461 fresh cases recorded in the last 24 hours.

According to reports, 1,53,96,444 samples have been tested for the novel coronavirus in labs operational across the state so far. While 1,82,970 persons are under home quarantine, 1726 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 positivity rate, recovery rate and fatality rate in Maharashtra stand at 13.45 per cent, 95.66 per cent and 2.49 per cent respectively.
