Family of Mumbai doctor who died at Hinduja tested positive for COVID-19

The family of the deceased doctor informed the civic officials that the grandson of the deceased had recently arrived from the United Kingdom on March 12 and was under self-quarantine or home quarantine.

All family members of a doctor who died last night at Hinduja Hospital have been tested positive for the coronavirus or COVID-19. The doctor was also tested positive for COVID-19. 

The family of the deceased doctor informed the civic officials that the grandson of the deceased had recently arrived from the United Kingdom on March 12 and was under self-quarantine or home quarantine. 

However, the deceased, 82-year-old, developed cough later, the family said according to the Indian Express. After his results came in positive, the doctor was admitted to Hinduja Hospital. 

The family consists of six members who also have been tested positive of the coronavirus or COVID-19. The total number of cases for the coronavirus in India has increased to 724, as per the home ministry while the death toll in India is 17.

Earlier today, 12 members of one family were tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19) and are being treated for the same. It is said that they belong to Sangli, where the number of cases until yesterday had reached 12, and with this update, the number has increased to 24.

On Thursday, Tope demanded immediate approved from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for testing of the coronavirus in six medical colleges in Maharashtra. 

The press statement issued by the state government state that the permission should be given immediately so that tests can be conducted at medical colleges in Dhule, Akola, Aurangabad, Solapur, Miraj and Nagpur.

On Thursday night, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray asked all District Collectors to search for those stranded including pilgrims, labours and others and make sure that they are taken care of amid the coronavirus outbreak.
