Maharashtra Public Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Friday informed that the total number of cases for the coronavirus or COVID-19 in the state has reached 135. Five more persons were tested positive for the coronavirus or COVID-19, this takes the toll to 135 in the state. 

Rajesh Tope took to Twitter to inform that 19 people have been recovered till date and have been discharged from their respective hospitals. Of these, 12 patients were from Mumbai, 5 from Pune, one each from Aurangabad and Nagpur, respectively. 

“The current count of COVID-19 patients in the state of Maharashtra is 135. Yesterday, Pune 1, Sangli 3, Kolhapur 1, Nagpur 5, such 10 people have been identified as positive,” Maharashtra Public Health Minister tweeted on Friday afternoon. 

“Till date, 19 people from these have been recovered and are discharged from the respective hospitals consisting of Mumbai 12, Pune 05, Aurangabad 01, Nagpur 01,” Tope tweeted.

Earlier on Thursday, Tope demanded immediate approved from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for testing of the coronavirus in six medical colleges in Maharashtra. 

The press statement issued by the state government state that the permission should be given immediately so that tests can be conducted at medical colleges in Dhule, Akola, Aurangabad, Solapur, Miraj and Nagpur.

On Thursday night, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray asked all District Collectors to search for those stranded including pilgrims, labours and others and make sure that they are taken care of amid the coronavirus outbreak. 

The Prime Minister on Tuesday announced a nationwide lockdown for 21-days in the view of increasing cases of the coronavirus or COVID-19. The working class including labourers and daily wagers have been hit the hardest due to the lockdown.
