In a very rare case, when a 29-year old man approached J.J. Hospital to treat his infertility, doctors found female reproductive parts like uterus, fallopian tube and cervix inside his body with the help of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
All these parts were non-functional and this rare condition is called 'Persistent Mullerian Duct Syndrome'.

The head of the urology department in J.J. Hospital, Dr. Venkat Gite carried out the surgery and removed these unwanted organs from the man's body. Dr. Gite stated this a rare condition with only 200 cases registered so far in the world. He further stated that the patient is healthy but his infertility cannot be cured as his testes are still in the abdomen and he suffers from azoospermia where the semen doesn't contain sperms.
