After several cases of malpractice where doctors were found guilty of submitting bogus certificates to the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC), the authorities have now decided that they will give certificates with a QR Code printed on it to determine the authenticity of the doctor.

Previously, the certificate was renewed every 5 years and was delivered at the registered doctor's resident. However, over 30 per cent of doctors have claimed that they haven't received the certificate. Therefore, the authorities have decided that the certificate will be sent via email to the doctor with the QR code printed on it.

With an aim to curb forgery, the above steps are all set to be implemented soon. After the QR code is scanned, the details of the doctor, their photograph etc. can be verified.
