The number of coronavirus cases in Mumbai has been increasing constantly. The western suburbs of the metropolitan city have emerged as the new hotspot areas. Despite this, the doubling rate in Mumbai has increased to 93 days now. This means that the number of COVID-19 cases is doubling after 93 days. 

Cumulatively, the number of novel coronavirus cases in Mumbai has been increasing. However, the sharp increase in being witnessed in a few wards under the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). At the same time, there is a relief in several parts of the city. 

In Mumbai, Malad has reported the highest number of coronavirus patients followed by Borivali. According to the data issued by the BMC, a total of 8,209 COVID-19 cases have been reported from Malad till August 25 and 7,507 people have fallen victim to coronavirus in Borivali. 

On Wednesday, Mumbai reported nearly 1,854 fresh coronavirus cases. This happened after the remaining number of COVID-19 patients from August 25 was announced yesterday. The official website of Indian Medical Research Centre (ICMR) was not working properly due to some technical issue. Therefore, the exact number of patients for Tuesday was missed. 

The number of coronavirus cases in Mumbai has increased to 1,39,537 and the death toll in the metropolitan has increased to 7,505. The average rate of recovery of coronavirus patients in Mumbai is 81 per cent. The BMC along with private hospitals have been providing timely treatment to the patients. 

Meanwhile, nearly 1,02,374 COVID-19 patients have recovered until now. As of August 26, a total of 1,26,042 coronavirus cases have been reported from the district.
