The decision was taken at the 112th meeting of the Maharashtra Region Regional Board of Employees' State Insurance Corporation was held at Mantralaya.

After the meeting, Minister of Rural Development & Labour Hasan Mushrif and ESCI president, while talking to media, said: “At the moment, the condition is such that a hospital is 10 km away from the corporation and now the hospital will be set up as per the population and needs.

The meeting was attended by Public Health Minister and ESIC Vice President Rajesh Tope, Union Health Secretary Dr Neelima Kerkatta and Labor Department Principal Secretary Vinita Ved Singhal as well. The appointed members in the corporation were present online as well as offline.

Appreciating the performance of ESIC hospitals during the COVID-19 period, a decision was taken to provide all facilities to the existing hospitals in Maharashtra. At the same time, a hospital should be set up at Kolhapur as soon as possible, said Mushrif.

Moreover, it was decided to set up 3 ESCI hospitals at Chakan (Pune), Tarapur (Palghar) and Pen (Raigad) and a hospital at Butibori within three months.

Recruitment of doctors and nurses in ESIC hospital

As the number of doctors and nurses in the hospital is low, MPSC has to be filled immediately. Health Minister Tope instructed to fill the vacancies on the basis of direct counselling and merit. Tope also directed that the posts of doctors and nurses should be filled on contract basis as required so that the workers do not get proper facilities due to incomplete staffing, as well as the recruitment process should be widely publicised.
