While Mumbai has been plateauing the number of cases of coronavirus, five districts in Maharashtra have clocked over a 400 per cent rise in cases of novel coronavirus since the last month.

According to Indian Express, officials have stated that these five districts happen to be Beed, Sangli, Kolhapur, Osmanabad and Nagpur adding that the authorities have struggled to create an adequate critical care treatment facility in these areas.

Moreover, as per data, there has been a considerable shift in hotspots from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad to these five districts. However, Mumbai, Thane and Pune continue to account for 57 per cent of the total burden of cases in the state, but their growth has somewhat steadied. Mumbai had clocked a 28.04 per cent rise in cases between July 29 to August 29, Thane 43.8 per cent whereas Pune clocked 104.3 per cent.

Earlier on Saturday, August 29, amidst the rise of the cases of coronavirus, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) extended the current lockdown limited to containment zones till September 30.

The MHA also issued the detailed guidelines under 'Unlock 4' allowing resumption of Metro Rail services, social gatherings up to 100 people with social distancing and open-air theatres.

However, educational institutions, cinema halls, swimming pools, theatres, and similar places will remain shut. The Centre has also directed states to not impose any local lockdown outside containment zones without MHA approval and to permit the free movement of people and goods throughout the nation.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra, in the last 24 hours, has clocked 16,408 cases of the coronavirus to reach the COVID-19 tally of 7,80,689 in the state. The recovery rate in the state now stands at 72.04 per cent, close to the national average of 76.61 per cent.
