In order to tame the monsoon related diseases, BMC commissioner Ajoy Mehta has asked health department officials to take action against the roadside food stalls. They have been asked to take the samples of roadside foods, ice, water used for juices and take action accordingly.
The BMC commissioner has also asked officials to inspect lands and buildings to check if there are any places where stagnant water gets collected. He has ordered civic officials to clean up such areas. Those failing to follow the directives could be prosecuted.
