As Maharashtra, which is worst by the pandemic, is reeling under the highest caseload of COVID-19 infections in the country, students and alumni of IIT Bombay have started an initiative called HelpNow to help the government deal with the crisis.

With the dream of saving more than 70,000 lives a day, HelpNow was started by 3 IITians, driven by first-hand experiences of a broken ambulance system in India. It was launched last year on Maharashtra Day, May 1.

Over the last 15 months of R&D with inputs from a domain expert, HelpNow has built the largest network of private ambulances in Mumbai, leveraged ridesharing cabs into "MedCabs" and made technological optimisations to truly create the safest ambulance service in India.

HelpNow provides sanitized and well-equipped ambulances with ventilators, within 15 to 20 minutes across Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Bengaluru. They provide 24x7 network access to the patients, healthcare workers, hospitals, testing labs and Government bodies through the helpline number: 8899889952 or website: https://www.gethelpnow.in/

One can also call on 8822288222 for an ambulance, then the tech platform finds you the nearest help. Later, the patient is sent all the information on WhatsApp, SMS and Calls you once it arrived to admit you to the relevant hospital. This service will avoid long waiting hours for facilities, help overcome survival difficulty and deaths can be prevented.

According to reports, earlier, a survey by the public health department suggested that the active coronavirus cases in Maharashtra could exceed up to three lakhs in April, if the treatment facilities in several districts, especially Nagpur and Thane, do not scale up.
