Keeping in mind the increasing number of covid patients, 25 more beds have been arranged separately in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital, Kalwa along with the special ward reserved for covid patients. At the same time, the Thane Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar has directed to closely monitor the number of patients and covid patients in private hospitals.

At present, there are a total 252 corona patients in Thane. Since the number of covid-infected patients started increasing, 5 covid-infected patients have passed away. Taking expert opinion on this, it is seen that these patients have died due to covid along with high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, other serious co-morbidities.

Meanwhile, the commissioner has given instructions to conduct a 'death audit' of patients who passed away. Also, citizens should not pretend to be sick if they have symptoms similar to Covid. He also appealed to take special care of senior citizens and patients with comorbidities. In this background, the Municipal Commissioner held a meeting of the health department on Wednesday.

Studying the number of patients by testing as many people as possible is essential to stay one step ahead of Corona, he said. Therefore, the number of corona tests should be increased. The number of patients is likely to increase due to more tests. However, as per the 'test, isolate, treat' protocol for Covid, it becomes necessary to isolate and treat more and more patients. Therefore, test centres should not be closed even for a single day. At the same time, arrangements for testing should be made immediately in public places, markets, railway stations, malls etc, said commissioner.

The Civic body must be vigilant about oxygen stock, adequate availability of test kits, and supply of medicines. The Commissioner mentioned that care should be taken to ensure that the said employees are used efficiently in the management of patients affected by Covid.
