In Kalyan's Adharwadi jail, 20 new inmates have tested COVID-19 positive as per reports. They were recently sent to jail as per the magistrate's order in different cases. After 20 of them, tested positive they were admitted to Thane Civil Hospital. The inmates have shown mild symptoms of the virus. The jail authorities, while addressing the situation, stated that they used to keep COVID-19 positive patients in a quarantine centre which is set up at a private school near to the prison.

However, schools have resumed their physical classes since October 4; therefore, the authorities have reserved two barracks in the jail. They conduct COVID-19 tests first on new inmates, following which the inmates were sent to regular barracks.
