Vaccination plays a pivotal role in curbing the COVID-19 pandemic. However, according to the reports in the last few days, the pace of vaccination has slowed down in the city.

To pace up the vaccination process, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to inoculate the citizens through ambulances and mobile vaccination centres. 

Apart from the three stationary vaccination centres in Dadar, Mahim, and Dharavi, the BMC Ward GN has also planned to set up a mobile vaccination van to cover those areas wherein the vaccination percentage is low.

As per reports, there are 10 to 12 ambulances under each divisional office. The teams from these ambulances will go to each door and check whether all of the family members are vaccinated.

While addressing the media, Additional Municipal Commissioner Suresh Kakani said that they will attempt to persuade those who aren't vaccinated.

The K West Divisional Office in Andheri has set up a mobile vaccination center in BEST’s AC minibus comprising of doctors, nurses, municipal staff, state accounts. It is learned that the bus is going to places like Juhu Chowpatty, places of worship, markets, societies to check if the citizens are inoculated or not.

Earlier it was reported that the BMC, Vaccine on Wheels and America India Foundation had joined hands to facilitate four vaccination centres in Mumbai for those who were unable to come to vaccination centres.

On the other hand, Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) had started a mobile vaccination centre in the city in a refurbished bus on June 7.

It was reported that on Sunday, October 17, Mumbai did not record any COVID-19 deaths for the first time since March 2020.
