The number of coronavirus cases in Kalyan and Dombivli areas is increasing rapidly, and as per the report released by the state health department. The area has already has crossed 30,000 cases mark. While the government is taking several measures to curb the spread of the virus, a total of 16 private hospitals in Kalyan and Dombivli are facing concerns as the municipality has received complaints with regards to the hospital officials charging more money from coronavirus infected patients.

Reports state that a large sum has been recovered from these hospitals and has been returned to the concerned patients. Hospitals were asking patients to pay exorbitant bills after coronavirus treatment, and upon knowing this, the Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC) swiftly took action regarding the same.

After officials received clarification from the concerned hospitals, the municipality refunded the excess bill amount. It was observed that the hospitals have charged INR 49,93,679 more than the total bill amount. Out of which INR 24,79,000 have been returned. Moreover, the remaining amount is yet to be recovered from the concerned hospitals.

In a decision taken a few days back, KDMC had revoked the license of one of the private COVID-19 hospitals as the hospital was not only charging more from the patients but also maintaining a separate record of the beds.
