Keeping in view the problem of increasing obesity among the citizens of the state, the Medical Education Department has taken up the campaign 'Obesity: Awareness and Treatment'. In this campaign, which was started in the state from March 4, school students were initially screened. Now it has been decided to check the employees and officials in government offices in the state. This campaign will be implemented in the government offices in the state from June 19 to June 26.


The Department of Medical Education and Medicines has taken up the campaign 'Obesity: Awareness and Treatment' in the state with the slogan 'Reduce body obesity, maintain healthy weight’. After the campaign started with the school children, now the employees and officers of the government offices in the state will be inspected.

Through 24 medical colleges in the state, the employees of government hospitals in their districts will be examined. Each medical college will examine the employees of three government offices in their jurisdiction. Only employees and officers of government offices with more than 50 employees will be examined. In this, blood tests, body mass index and other tests will be done for the employees, informed the coordinator of the 'Obesity: Awareness and Treatment' campaign Dr. Vinayak Sawardekar.


The founder of St. George's Hospital Dr. Vinayak Sawardekar, professor in Grant Government Medical College Dr. Rakesh Waghmare and Dr. Mandar Sadavarte have been appointed.
