The rise in coronavirus cases across the state has increased concerns for the government, whereby many citizens are facing the brunt, due to the shortage of healthcare workers. As per reports, the state health department has been trying to manage the issue which is adding to the existing COVID-19 crisis.

With an aim to find a solution, Maharashtra's Minister of State for Revenue and Rural Development, Abdul Sattar, has submitted a proposal to the Finance Department regarding some appointments. The communication sent by Minister Sattar includes the demand of filling 10,127 posts across five divisions in the State Health Department.

He mentioned that the vacancies of health workers have created problems for the system, and the need to fill over 10,000 positions is crucial at this hour. Demanding the same, he mentioned that Maharashtra currently needs technicians, drug manufacturers, health workers, and health supervisors  to help the government in managing the COVID-19 spread.

Upon receiving the confirmation, Minister Sattar said that recruitment for the posts would start immediately.

Currently, COVID-19 spread across the state, is significantly high, and with an aim to curb the same, CM Uddhav Thackeray-led government, on April 13, 2021, imposed a state-wide curfew, whereby only essentials will be allowed from 7am to 8pm. This was implemented from April 14, 2021 and will continue until May 1, 2021. Strict guidelines have been implemented across Maharashtra and the respective civic bodies have been asked to implement the same in their districts.
