Maharashtra's COVID-19 tally ranks the fourth in the world

COVID-19 count in the state has increased by over 400 per cent since February. The growing number of patients is worrisome, and keeping this in mind, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had called an emergency meeting at Varsha Bungalow on April 2, 2021.

The state of Maharashtra, in March 2021, once again witnessed the rise in coronavirus cases, and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, while addressing the state on April 2, 2021, said that this spread was worse than the previous outbreak in 2021.

Officials have noted that the number of coronavirus patients is increasing day by day, and as many as 43,183 new COVID-19 patients were found in the state on Thursday, April 1, 2021. This is the highest number of corona found in any state.

Shockingly, in the last 24 hours, more patients have been found in countries like the US, France and Brazil, as similar to the state of Maharashtra alone. 

Data reveals that Maharashtra has the fourth highest number of patients in the world, whereby the count has increased by over 400 per cent since February. The growing number of patients is worrisome, and keeping this in mind, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had called an emergency meeting at Varsha Bungalow on Friday, April 2, 2021.

The meeting was planned to review the current status, and decisions are yet to be taken regarding the strict restrictions which have to be announced to prevent coronavirus spread. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar is also holding meetings with Pimpri Chinchwad and Pune Municipal Corporation officials. Post these discussions, the government will take a decision regarding a complete lockdown in the state.

While addressing the state, CM Uddhav Thackeray has given two day ultimatum to the citizens, stating that if the condition improves over the next 48 hours, the government will take an appropriate decision. However, if the same continues to deteriorate, officials will consider imposing strict regulations. The COVID-19 task force in Maharashtra has however asked the CM to impose a strict lockdown, but keeping the previous lockdown implications in mind, the government is planning to announce the same with minimum impact on economy.
