Maharashtra has spent INR 2,630.03 crores on battling COVID-19 till Dec 2020: Economic survey

According to a report released by Economic Survey released on Friday, March 5, stated that Maharashtra has incurred a total expenditure worth INR 2,630.03 crores till December 2020.

It also revealed that Maharashtra, the most affected state due to pandemic, raised funds through the National Health Mission (NHM), State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), district annual plan and MLALAD funds. The expenditure incurred from NHM is INR 361.79 crores, SDRF gave INR 860.92 crores. While Maharashtra legislators’ local area development funds were 690.82 crores.

Moreover, the Centre also provided funds worth INR 716.50 crores to the state as part of the COVID-19 emergency preparedness plan. Besides, it also gave testing kits, PPE kits and N95 masks till August 31, 2020. Till December 2020, 4,384 ventilators have been sent by the Central government, reports added.

In addition, using the district annual plan fund and MLALAD fund, 533 ventilators, 84,866 infra-red thermometer/oximeter, 1.66 million PPE kits, 13.725 million N95/triple layer mask, 2.53 million Covid testing kits, 23,149 oxygen cylinder kits and other necessary equipment and medicines have been purchased till December 2020.
