Last year in July 2017, a senior Maharashtra bureaucrat couple lost their son, Manmath Mhaiskar (18), but are now blessed with twin daughters with the help of vitro fertilisation (IVF) technology. In the first week of August, the couple was blessed with twin daughters delivered by a surrogate mother in a city-based hospital.

Milind Mhaiskar and Manisha Mhaiskar’s son Manmath Mhaiskar allegedly committed suicide by jumping off a high-rise building in 2017.

Post-his death and after much contemplation, the couple decided to take help of assisted reproductive technologies to become parents once again. Last year in December, they approached an IVF expert.

Milind Mhaiskar is the CEO of Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) while Manisha Mhaiskar is the principal secretary in the urban development department.

If reports to be believed, both the IAS officers are on leave preparing themselves to welcome their twin babies on Friday.
