According to a note written by the Dean of Mulund's COVID-19 care facility, there has been reported malpractices with regards to the management of hospital beds.

As per reports, on Wednesday, December 2, the opposition in the state, BJP, released a note which highlights the malpractices in the management of hospital beds at the Mulund jumbo COVID-19 care facility.

The note was written by the dean of the facility in the month of October to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Moreover, the BJP accused the Shiv Sena controlled civic body of shielding those responsible for the mismanagement of the hospital beds. In addition, it has threatened to approach the Bombay High Court if adequate action is not taken with regards to the same.

According to a report in Indian Express, the note accused Asha Cancer Trust and Research Centre which was contracted to manage 600 beds, of committing serious violations at the cost of a patient’s well-being. Facility Dean Pradeep Angre had further asked for the non-renewal of the firm’s services after the expiry of the contract on October 26.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra on Saturday, December 5, reported 4,922 fresh cases of the coronavirus taking the COVID-19 tally in the state to 18,47,509. Moreover, with 95 more patients succumbing to the disease, the overall toll in the state mounted to 47,694. At the same time, 5,834 patients were discharged after treatment during the day, taking the tally of recoveries to 17,15,884. The state now has 82,849 active cases of COVID-19.

On the other hand, Mumbai reported 758 fresh cases of the coronavirus taking the COVID-19 tally in the city to 2,85,267 while the death toll in the city rose to 10,964, according to officials.
