NOUS Home Automation, owned by a Mumbai-based couple, has recently claimed to make the first infra-red touchless thermal scanner in the country.

According to Geetica Srivastava, the co-founder of the company, the thermal scanner can state the temperate in seconds and it does not require any human to operate it. The thermal scanner also has a proximity sensor, therefore, can get activated from a distance. It has also been touted to have features like an alarm that gets activated once a person with fever comes into its radius.

NOUS Home Automation tries to curate IoT products, IoT which roughly translates to the internet of things. NOUS deals in smart home products, that offer automation solutions that are innovative and intuitive.

With the surge in the number of cases of coronavirus, several enterprises are creating new-age products that can help people deal with the contagious disease. Arvi, a high-tech start-up, founded by IIT Bombay pass-outs, had earlier launched contactless thermal scanning kiosks. Arvi kiosks use artificial intelligence combined with deep learning to merge facial recognition and thermal screening to detect people with high temperatures.

Although the kiosks are similar to the temperature gun, the major difference lies in the fact that a temperature gun requires the physical presence of a security guard or an individual to note down people’s temperature. The kiosks, on the other hand, require no human observation. This artificial intelligence-enabled Arvi scanners are therefore the need of the hour and can be used at various places like malls, banks, airports, schools, hospitals, etc.

Ever since the outbreak of the coronavirus hit the country, social distancing has become a pivotal part of our lives with people using multiple contactless products in order to safeguard themselves. The thermal scanning kiosks have specifications such as temperature checks, face mask detection, auto hand-sanitization, and attendance/access management which can, therefore, help the people to safeguard themselves better.
