The quality of educational institutions around the world have been announced in the QS World Ranking 2021. In this list, 8 organizations from India have got a position in the top 500 organizations in the world. This quality list has been announced on the basis of education, research and infrastructure. However, India's most famous IIT Bombay has slipped in the world rankings.

IIT Bombay has ranked 172 in the world rankings. However, this institution has come to the forefront in the country. Compared to last year rankings, IIT Mumbai's position in QS World University Rankings has dropped by 20 points. In the list of 2021, IIT has ranked 172nd globally. It was ranked 152nd in 2020. In the field of education, the institute has got 50.4 marks, while the academic standard of the professors has got 74.2 marks. Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore has been ranked 185th in this year's QS World Rankings. Also, IIT Delhi has reached 193rd position in this list.

On the other hand, Indian institutions like IIT Madras has been ranked at 275. IIT Kharagpur, which is in West Bengal, has been ranked at 314. IIT Kanpur has been ranked at 350. IIT Roorkee at 383 and IIT Guwahati at 470.

The QS world ranking list depends on 6 standard norms like academic reputation (40 per cent weightage), employer reputation (10 per cent), faculty/student ratio (20 per cent), citations per faculty (20 per cent), international faculty ratio/student ratio (5 per cent each). The rankings are usually referred by the higher education aspirants for choosing their university for their further studies. The QS world ranking list showcases top 1000 educational institutions of the world. The top 5 universities in the world listed by the QS are, MIT in the US, Stanford University, Harvard University, California Institute of Technology and Oxford University in the UK.
