According to reports, over the past few weeks, a few dozen healthcare workers, some politicians and their staff have all taken a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in the city.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, September 16, the Centre stated that a booster shot was not a priority further indicating that a decision on a third coronavirus dose may not be imminent. In a report by TOI, multiple sources stated that several healthcare workers have taken the third shot at many hospitals, either without registration on Co-win or by using a different phone number.

On the other hand, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to ramp up the vaccination drive for women in Mumbai. It has been observed that women have received less response to vaccination since a few months amid ongoing festivals. This development came days after the health department in a letter mentioned that nine districts, including Mumbai and Pune, in the state have been told to improve the vaccination of women beneficiaries.

The civic body has decided to dedicate one day a week for women across the city. The next two weeks will be a two-day special drive to vaccinate women on an experimental basis.
