The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced on Thursday, September 16, that all the government and BMC vaccination centres would be administering COVID-19 vaccines to only women on Friday, September 17. Centres will be open from 10.30 AM to 6.30 PM.

A few days back the health department, in a letter, asked Mumbai and Pune along with nine other districts to improve the vaccination for women.

Earlier this month, it was reported that the BMC was considering a special vaccination drive only for women to bridge the gender disparity in the vaccination numbers.

Even during International Women's day, there were five COVID-19 vaccination centres that were set up in five districts of the state, which were exclusive to jab women.
