Keeping in mind the increasing number of patients infected with COVID-19, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Administration has reviewed the preparedness of all hospitals and now it has been decided to start a Corona Outpatient Department in KEM Hospital. This outpatient department will start by the end of this week.

The number of corona infected patients is increasing and to prevent the spread of corona, it has been decided to start a corona outpatient department in KEM hospital.

The decision was taken in a meeting with hospital founder Dr. Sangeeta Rawat and heads of various departments. The Outpatient department for Cough, Cold and Fever (CCF) will be started. In this outpatient department, patients will be registered, their samples will be taken and sent for examination, and then patients will be treated according to the corona test report. At the same time, patients suffering from 'H3N2' and general fever, cold and cough will also be treated in this outpatient department.

All the procedures for starting the Corona Outpatient Department have been completed and this department will be operational by the end of this week. Along with immediate treatment of the corona infected patients found in the Corona outpatient department, they will be advised to admit to the hospital or stay in isolation at home, keeping in mind their condition, said Dr.  Vijayakumar Singh, Head of Community Medicine Department and Professor, KEM Hospital.

Hospital staff will also be kept in isolation

Hospital staff are constantly coming in contact with patients infected with coronavirus. So they are more likely to get infected with coronavirus. Employees infected with Corona will be kept in forced isolation for seven days.

Test will be conducted in each section

During the first two waves of corona, patients who used to come to any department of the hospital were sent to the medical department for a corona test. Therefore, the corona patient used to roam throughout the hospital. But at this time, facilities for testing corona patients will be made available in each department along with registration of corona patients so that the patients will not have to visit the hospital often.
