Mumbai Metro One has recently installed menstrual hygiene vending machines at every station on the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar corridor to improve comfort for women passengers.
The vending machines have been placed outside women’s restrooms at all 12 stations on the Blue Line of the Mumbai Metro. This lets women get menstrual products discreetly. The goal is to make sure that women commuters have easy access to hygiene products during their travel.
Each vending machine offers multiple products. Packs of two sanitary pads are available starting at INR 10. The pricing has been kept affordable so that people from all different income groups can get it.
An official release stated that the partnership between Mumbai Metro One and Sirona is designed to encourage open dialogue around menstrual health, ease challenges faced by women commuters, and advance gender-sensitive infrastructure in public transportation. The initiative aligns with Mumbai Metro One’s wider commitment to improving the commuter experience by integrating care, accessibility, and inclusivity into daily travel.
The machines have been installed through a partnership between Mumbai Metro One and Sirona. Sirona is an Indian femtech and women’s wellness company. The plan will also support conversations around menstrual health and create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all passengers.
