Mumbai Police lists safety tunes during the lockdown

Mumbai Police, in a fun-filled, witty post on Twitter shared a series of photos of famous rock bands. Using the names of the rock bands cleverly, Mumbai Police has asked the citizens to U2; stay at home, Backstreet boys; do not loiter, Oasis; your home, Linkin Park; do not visit. This post has driven the netizens crazy given that the Mumbai Police in a first has displayed such an extensive taste in rock music. 

In the past, the Mumbai Police had used movie dialogues to spread awareness among the citizens. The Mumbai Police in its tweet wrote, “I'm gonna offer him a mask he can't refuse” emphasising the need to wear a mask and how it is a must for all citizens in a bid to protect themselves from catching the virus.

Mumbai Police, also incorporating Bollywood to spread out awareness had previously shared a still from Ranveer Singh starer ‘Gully Boy’ featuring Alia Bhatt which read “That face when he says he is going out for a walk during lockdown”. 

These memes have sparked jitters of laughter on the internet as users lauded the “creative aspect” of the warnings that the Mumbai Police showcased to remind the lockdown violators to stay-at-home using social media. Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases in the country has reached 52,952, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday morning. This includes 1,783 deaths due to the infection. However, 15,267 persons have been cured and discharged so far, according to the Health Ministry. Maharashtra with 16,769 cases is the worst-affected state, while Gujarat is second on the list. Delhi with more than 5,000 COVID-19 cases is the third most-affected by the rising COVID-19 cases. However, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, decided to withdraw the relaxations given from lockdown in Mumbai city, including the permission to reopen liquor shops, and declared only essential services will be available from Wednesday.
