Mumbai reported 736 new COVID-19 cases, 473 recoveries and four deaths on Thursday, February 18, taking the total number of cases in the financial capital to 3,16,487. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, there are 6,201 active cases and 2,97,995 patients have completely recovered so far. The death toll is at 11,430 in the city. The recovery rate stands at 94 per cent. At present 30,80,528 tests have been conducted by the BMC. There are 57 contaminated zones in slums and chawls while 258 buildings are sealed by the BMC.

On Thursday, February 18, Maharashtra recorded 5,427 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 20,81,520. Currently, there are 40,858 active cases in the state. With 2,543 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number recovered soared to 19,87,804.

More than 38 people from the state have lost their lives to this disease in the last 24 hours while the total has now mounted to 51,669. While 2,16,908 persons are under home quarantine, 1,743 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 95.5 per cent, and 2.48 per cent respectively.

Meanwhile, India reported 13,193 new cases, 10,896 recoveries and 97 deaths taking the tally up to 1,09,63,394 on Thursday, February 18. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 1,06,67,741 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,56,111 in the country. At present, there are 1,39,542 active cases. So far, 1,01,88,007 healthcare workers have been vaccinated in the country.
