Amidst the coronavirus crisis in the state of Maharashtra, in Nagpur, as many as 991 people tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Saturday, August 29, taking the COVID-19 tally in the area to 24,515.

On the other hand, as many as 1,076 people recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, bringing down the tally of the active number of cases down to 10,315. However, 36 people succumbed to the disease taking the total number of deaths in Nagpur to 870, as per the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC).

In view of the growing number of cases in Nagpur, an expert team from Mumbai led by IS Chahal had earlier visited the area on Friday to understand the rise in the cases of coronavirus. Anil Deshmukh, Home Minister of the state, had previously asked the COVID-19 task force to conduct a detailed review of the area to comprehend the issues as a result of curbing the similar rise in COVID-19 cases in Mumbai earlier, in places like Dharavi and Worli Koliwada.

Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, Maharashtra had 16,867 people testing positive for the coronavirus taking the tally of confirmed cases rose to 7,64,281 on Saturday, August 29.

Moreover, as per data, the number of patients recovering from the disease rose by 11,541 in the same period, taking the aggregate of recovered cases to 5,54,711. The recovery rate in the state now stands at 72.58 per cent, close to the national average of 76.47 per cent.
