Keeping the increasing number of coronavirus cases and the upcoming Mumbai monsoons in mind, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has set up a well-equipped coronavirus war room at its headquarters. This facility is available on the fourth floor of NMMC and the commissioner recently visited the place for a review.

Officials at the corporation have taken necessary steps to ensure that the spread of coronavirus is contained. More than six lakh citizens have contacted the officials through telephone conversations to receive information about their health. Further, details have also been collected through online forms and a dedicated helpline number is also announced if the citizens wish to speak to doctors and healthcare advisors with regards to COVID-19.

Besides the war room, the Municipal Corporation has also set up flu clinics at 23 Civic Health Centers and four hospitals run by the corporation, where coronavirus tests are being conducted. Mass screening camps are also organized and so far around 35,000 citizens from the locality have been screened.

The government has also ensured that the COVID-19 health centres and dedicated hospitals are available for the benefit of people. Guidelines are received from the Central and state governments regarding decisions taken to curb coronavirus spread. Further, appropriate actions are being taken along with reports being compiled and sent to various departments. They are being sent, on time, to review daily situation.

Municipal commissioner Annasaheb Misal has also made sure that the war room will play an important role in deciding the next strategy.

As per the dashboard on NMMC website, the area has a total of 4,515 confirmed coronavirus cases, out of which 1,765 cases are active, 147 deaths have been registered and 2,603 patients have been discharged.
