Nearly 59,000 health workers vaccinated so far in Mumbai

On January 16, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray launched the vaccination drive from a centre at Bandra Kurla Complex. While the drive was only for four days in the first week, now BMC has increased it to six days a week.

As many as 4,839 healthcare workers in the city were vaccinated, which is 76 per cent of the daily target, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said on Wednesday, February 3.

The total number of persons who received the vaccines so far is now 58,623 till February 3, as per the data revealed by the state health minister. The maximum number of vaccinations were done at Nair hospital followed by Ambedkar hospital in Kandivali. The JJ hospital has vaccinated 40 people so far.

Meanwhile, at JJ hospital 425 healthcare workers received Covaxin till now. Earlier the response was low, but now the number of healthcare employees seeking vaccinations is increasing in JJ hospital.

According to reports, around 71,000 healthcare workers remain on the list, whom it has to cover in 10 days. Hence, the BMC has increased the capacity of the vaccination centres to complete administering the first of two doses of vaccine till February 14.

Currently, there are 12 centres and BMC expected 6,380 healthcare workers to come for vaccination but only 4,839 people turned up yesterday.
