No Positive cases of coronavirus in Maharashtra: State Health Minister

While speaking to the reporters, Tope advised people to not spread or believe in rumours regarding the coronavirus and informed that no positive case has been reported in the state till date.

Amid the increasing cases of coronavirus across the country and globe, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Wednesday said no positive case of coronavirus or COVID-19 has been reported in the state. 

While speaking to the reporters, Tope advised people to not spread or believe in rumours regarding the coronavirus and informed that no positive case has been reported in the state till date. 

“No positive case of coronavirus has been reported in Maharashtra till now. People are advised to not spread or believe the rumours regarding same,” Rajesh Tope said. 

The Maharashtra Health Minister further said that the state government was taking measures while preparing to tackle the situation. However, Tope asserted that no anti-viral drug is available and advised people to take precautions. 

“Isolation wards have been set up in every district and 10 extra beds have been placed in every hospital. We are taking measures and are alert. People should take precautions as there is no antiviral drug available to cure coronavirus,” Tope said. 

So far, six positive cases of the coronavirus or COVID-19 have been confirmed in India. The Union Health Ministry informed on Tuesday that fresh cases of coronavirus have been reported in New Delhi, Telangana and Rajasthan.

On Thursday, Maharashtra Health Department shared that a so far a total of 55,785 travellers have been screened for coronavirus infection at the Mumbai international airport. All passengers that are arriving from the 12 countries that have been majorly impacted by this virus are being screened at the Mumbai airport. These countries are China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Nepal, Indonesia, Vietnam, Italy, Iran and Malaysia.
