Even though awareness about mental health has increased among people after the COVID-19 pandemic, many people do not pay heed to psychological issues. There is still stigma and taboo related to mental health even in urban areas, which sometimes leads to wrong results.

Also, due to lack of correct information and understanding, many times people ignore problems related to mental health. Besides, due to lack of basic health facilities in rural areas, people lack awareness and accessibility; therefore, they do not get treated properly.

Know your mental health state through the app

Keeping mental health in mind, Dr. Neena Sawant, Professor of Psychiatry at KEM Hospital, Parel, has created one such app, which will provide current information about people's mental health and that too for free. Saksham Mental Wellness App is designed to assist individuals in mental health assessment. By using this app you can know the current status of your mental health.

Along with this, you will also know whether you are going through such mental stress or illness which you are not aware of or which you are ignoring.

75-80% of people suffering from mental illness do not reach a doctor/hospital

Dr. Neena Sawant is also the President of the Indian Psychiatric Society Western Zone (IPSWZB). Sharing her more than 30 years of experience in psychiatric treatment,

Dr. Neena Sawant said:

Dr. Neena Sawant further said that people in rural areas will also benefit.

Dr. Neena Sawant says, “We are planning to work with the state health department and Asha workers to popularise this app, and the Indian Psychiatric Society to spread awareness about the app and mental health among the people. Will also use the platform of Western Region."
