Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the country have reduced significantly and the state governments are administering vaccines as directed by the experts. Research is being conducted to understand the need for a booster dose, vaccine for children and cocktail vaccines. A few months back, experts had suggested the use of combination vaccines for COVID-19, however, the best combination is yet to be identified and determined.

Sharing more information about the same, National Technical Advisory Group of Immunisation (NTAGI) Chief, NK Arora, informed that the scientists are working towards checking the efficacy of Covishield-Covaxin as a combination trial. However, many groups should be involved in such trials. A report regarding the same was published in the Times of India, which quoted NK Arora who said that the best possible combination will help in saving lives and strengthening our protection against COVID-19.

Earlier, the combination of Covishield and Covaxin has created rumours regarding the safety, while being administered in Uttar Pradesh, however, experts believe that the cocktail vaccine could help in improving the immune response.

Several similar studies are being conducted around the world and some have shown positive results. Meanwhile, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has warned organisations of the same and have asked for in-depth analysis and interpretation.
