The number of Coronavirus cases in Maharashtra has seen an increase in the last 24 hours. As of March 25, 2020, the state witnessed a total of 119 cases, of which three cases have been reported dead. The city of Mumbai records the highest count of48 cases, while Pune follows with 19 cases.

On March 24, 2020, PM Narendra Modi addressed the nation, announcing a country-wide lockdown for 21 days. He requested people to stay at home asking them to leave only if necessary. While warning the citizens about the critical scenario, he also informed how the next 3 weeks are highly important for country's safety. Emphasising on staying at home, he ensured people are aware of the consequences they may face (health-wise) if they leave the city, further stating that one can leave if they need to buy essentials. 

Addressing the same and elaborating on it, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray in a press conference on March 25, 2020, urged the people of the state to not panic and stay home. Necessary arrangements have been made for the essentials across the state. He further wished the state a safe and healthy life ahead, marking the auspicious occasion of Gudi Padwa.
