Coronavirus cases in Mumbai increase by 475 per cent in March as compared to February 2021

Coronavirus spread is on a rise in Mumbai, once again, and the daily growing number of cases is adding to the worries, both for people and the administration. Data reveals that on Thursday, April 2, 2021, a total of 8,646 new patients were found in Mumbai and this pattern has been increasing rapidly since March 2021.

In the month of March, the number of coronavirus patients in Mumbai increased by 88,710, and this is said to be an increase of 475 per cent over February 2021. Moreover, 216 patients died in the same month, which is 181 per cent more than in February. 

Across the state, more than 6.6 lakh new coronavirus cases were reported, which is 400 per cent more than in February.

According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the total number of corona patients in Mumbai has gone up to over1.14 lakh as on March 31, whereby a total of 11,686 deaths have been reported. 

Corona patients have increased tremendously in March compared to the months of January and February. BMC data shows that approximately 16,328 corona patients were found in January and 18,359 in February, but in March, the number rose by 72,382 patients to 88,710. The number of patients has increased by about 475 per cent in a single month.

Earlier, the death toll had dropped in February after January, but the same has risen again in March. There were 237 deaths in January and 119 in February, while 216 in March, which as per reports is over 181 per cent more than February.

The recovery rate has also dropped which in February was 93 per cent and is now at 85 percent. The number of active patients who are undergoing treatment has also reached 51,411 which was 9715 in February.
